Voting is now officially closed on our Who Deserves a Massager Contest and although each of the individuals you read about certainly do deserve a massager, unfortunately only one can win. The winner is….Drum-roll please……Janet who submitted a story on behalf of Joseph from Pennsylvania!

When my son was 28, they discovered a ten inch tumor inside his spinal cord. After a ten hour surgery which he survived, they said he probably wouldn’t walk, but he did. However, he has a lasting problem called paraparesis. He has terrible problems with his muscles going into spasms, causing his right foot to twist almost completely over. As luck would have it, he met a wonderful person who he married. She tries to relieve his pain by massaging his back nightly trying to get the knots to release. I know he cannot sleep in bed at times because of the muscle spasms. So anything that can offer him relief of these terrible spasms and relieve him of some pain would be terrific. He lives with constant pain because of the paraparesis which feels like someone hitting you with a hot iron. He has lived with this for the past 15 years and no one has been able to help him. I think he definitely deserves to win. He never complains and is the most positive person I know. He is my hero.
Joseph, we truly hope your new massager is able to help you relax!

As a way to jump-start our contest, we asked our co-workers if anyone had a family member or friend who was deserving of a massager. We set a deadline, and before long learned of a co-worker’s relative, Andrew.
Andrew loves contributing to his community. He volunteers with the Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization, tutors children with their Algebra, and was a driving force in turning a vacant lot into a new baseball field in his neighborhood. He does all of his volunteering on weekends or after he gets out of work during the week.
While working on the baseball field, Andrew noticed he had aches and pains throughout his 50 year old body. We wanted to do what we could to help Andrew relax after his long days. A few weeks ago, we sent Andrew a HoMedics Shiatsu massager, perfect for soothing aching muscles.
